Dies Suddenly
Masonic Temple
Custodian Was 75
J. Henry Sudall, 75, custodian at the Masonic Temple
and a retired hand engraver, died suddenly at 10 o'clock last night
at his home, 408 Smith Street.
Death resulted from a coronary thrombosis. Two weeks ago Mr. Sudall
had the misfortune to fall off a ladder while at work at the Masonic
Temple and he sustained a broken right leg, at the knee. He was in bed,
with his leg in a cast, when he was striken with the blood clot last
night.
He was born in Church, England, Dec. 22, 1875, the son of Robert and
Elizabeth Sudall. He came to the United States in 1909. He was employed
as a hand engraver at the Standard Coated Products, Division of Interchemical
Corporation, in Buchanan until his retirement in 1935.
Mr Sudall was treasurer of in Cortlandt Lodge 6, IOOF and a member of
Cortlandt Lodge 34, F. and A.M., Peekskill Council 55, R. and S.M.,
Mohegan Chapter 221, R.A.M., Harmony Temple, Knights of Pythias, Fellowcraft
Club of Masons, and the Peekskill Fish and Game Association. He served
as organist for many of the above mentioned fraternal organizations.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Roberts Sudall; one daughter Mrs.
William (Eleanor) Morton of Peekskill; one son, Arthur Sudall of Ossining;
three grandchildren; two brothers, Richard of Philadelphia and Robert
Sudall of Tuolumine Calif; three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Sclater of Dallas,
Texas, Mrs. John Fullerton of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Mrs. Albert Baldwin
of Los Altos, Calif.
The funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 2 P.M. from
Ulm Bros. funeral home, 344 Washington Street, with the Rev. Robert
H. Blackshear, pastor of the Peekskill Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be made in Hillside Cemetery.
